after a mild summer and a rentrée with reinforced sacrifices for all we are proud to announce our next show at Dama Aflita Gallery. Next September 15th, we welcome Benjamin Demeyere, artist from Antwerp, with Atlantische invasion n12, from 5 p.m.
With this exhibition we´ll also present a showcase representing artists from Bries Space Gallery, from Antwerp: Rémy Poncet, Warre Mulder, Natasja Baans, Jango Jim, Isabelle Vandenabeele, Nick Andrews, Ana Albero, Ephameron, Dorothée Van Biesen, Kottie Paloma, Carolin Löbbert, Sacha Eckes & Laurent Impeduglia.

Sobre a exposição
Para esta exposição na galeria Dama Aflita intitulada Atlantische invasion N°12 Benjamin produziu 50 desenhos que representam diferentes pessoas ou criaturas a navegar em barcos, prontas para invadir o Porto.
Todos os trabalhos terão 16x21 cm de medidas e serão embalados em sacos de plástico.
Benjamin Demeyere também é responsável com Ria Schulpen (Bries editions) de uma galeria especializada em trabalho gráfico, em Antuérpia chamada The Bries Space. Benjamin irá trazer na bagagem um showcase de artistas que colaboram com esta galeria: Rémy Poncet, Warre Mulder, Natasja Baans, Jango Jim, Isabelle Vandenabeele, Nick Andrews, Ana Albero, Ephameron, Dorothée Van Biesen, Kottie Paloma, Carolin Löbbert, Sacha Eckes e Laurent Impeduglia.

Benjamin Demeyere (BE)
Benjamin Demeyere nasceu em Mouscron, Bélgica, em Abril de 1969… o mesmo ano em que um homem pisou na lua pela primeira vez.
Por diferentes razões decidiu começar cedo a expressar os seus sentimentos através da pintura.
Após concluir os seus estudos na Royal Academy of fine Arts em Antwerpen (Bélgica), em 1993 começou a expôr em vários locais, dentro e fora da Bélgica.
Com as exposições desenvolveu o seu trabalho seguindo as directrizes dos seus mestres: Rubens e Van Eyck pela acuidade e técnica, Magritte pelo seu desenvolvimento em falsear a realidade, Floris Jespers, Edgar Tijdgat and Gust De Smet pelo poder das suas imagens.
O seu trabalho é ao mesmo tempo figurativo e narrativo, mas sempre permitindo grande liberdade de interpretação ao observador.
Não possui dogmas mas uma necessidade grande de se expressar através das imagens.
Benjamin recorre a fotografias, cartas ou documentos antigos, na maior parte do tempo anónimos, tornando-os seus de forma a imprimir-lhes uma nova vida...
About the exhibition
For this show in Dama Aflita called ‘atlantische invasion N°12’ Benjamin makes some 50 drawings representing different persons or creatures floating on a boat, ready to invade Porto. All the works will be 16 x 21 cm packaged in a plastic bag.
Benjamin Demeyere also own together with Ria Schulpen (Bries editions) a little graphic gallery in Antwerpen called The Bries Space. Benjamin will take in his luggage’s works of artists connected to this gallery: Rémy Poncet, Warre Mulder, Natasja Baans, Jango Jim, Isabelle Vandenabeele, Nick Andrews, Ana Albero, Ephameron, Dorothée Van Biesen, Kottie Paloma, Carolin Löbbert, Sacha Eckes & Laurent Impeduglia
About the artist
Benjamin Demeyere (BE)
Benjamin Demeyere was born in Mouscron, Belgium, in april, 1969… that same year, a man’s foot was set on the moon.
For a different reason, he chose really early to express his feelings through painting.
After his studies at the Royal Academy of fine Arts in Antwerpen (Belgium) in 1993, he started to expose on various locations, in and out of Belgium.
Doing so, he followed some af his previous masters: Rubens and Van Eyck for their accuracy and their love of the technique, Magritte for his research for falsifying reality, Jean Brusselmans, Floris Jespers, Edgar Tijdgat and Gust De Smet for the power of their pictures.
No dogma to be found there, but the need to express himself through the image. A need to build new pictures from lines and colours, but also giving a new value to lost images.
Benjamin takes old pictures, letters or old documents, most of the times anonymous, make them his, in order to give them a new life…
